I figured since I’ve been gushing about it so much, and I’m kind of obsessed, I’d make a picture of it as proof. I LIVE IN FRANCE. But in reality it’s just the Lower East Side. There’s at least 4 French things on this one street corner about a block away from me. It’s like I never left!

Trade School @ Grand Opening, from http://ourgoods.org
Tonight I attended “Business School for Artists” which is part of Trade School, a 30-day program created by Our Goods at Grand Opening on the Lower East Side.
I took Doug to GO’s Drive-thru concept a few years ago for his birthday and it was really unique, as was this event.
It was really interesting to get to learn about something I’m interested in from an expert, and instead of paying $$, being able to share some of my expertise in return.
Unfortunately the next session is already booked, which is too bad because it was going to be a continuation of what was started tonight. Perhaps we’ll get lucky and they’ll continue the program after the 30 days.
Oddly enough I ended up being interviewed about my experience by a Japanese TV crew. They were really nice. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

I love when people listen to me...

mbrosen:

evillageidiot:
A friend who lives in Westchester asked me for places in the East Village to have a birthday party. Among the requirements: “chill, not obnoxious, not loud, and has good beer.” I named about five places.

I got the invite today. The venue is not one I recommended. Instead, it’s a place on the Lower East Side with stripper poles and a velvet rope, and on a Friday night, will undoubtedly be unchill, decidedly obnoxious, extremely loud, and its best beer offering is Blue Moon.

UPDATE: There are bracelets involved! And getting into a back room! And saying someone’s name at the door! SO. MUCH. FUN.

Some friends who live in Hoboken came in on Saturday night. Called and said to come meet them.

Me: “Where you gonna be?”

Her: “[The one place on Ludlow with a velvet rope].”

Me: [Hangs up].

A Place to cozy up to on these cold Winter Nights

24-7rendezvous:

FREEMANS: A great spot to - catch up with an old friend, hang at the bar with new ones, enjoy the company of a charming date or impress an ‘out-of-towner’.

The food salutes simple, rustic, early American menu staples. 20-30 minute waits on tables aren’t uncommon at busy times of the night, but the bar is always open for great cocktails and wine while you immerse in the eclectic decor and intimate ambience.

Nestled at the end of an unused alley off the Bowery….it has remarkably remained one of the city’s best kept secrets. A perfect place to cozy up to on these cold winter nights.

Foodie Fix: Artichoke dip is heavenly and great for sharing.

Despite it maybe seeming sort of swanky and weird, I still want to try it out. It’s at the end of Freeman Alley off Rivington between Bowery and Chrystie. It’s a cool location, feels sorta secretive and special. And I am a sucker for artichoke dip.. Freeman’s is definitely on the list.
